A magnificent complex of Giantlog houses has been built in Vartiokylä, Helsinki, by construction company Argentum. The complex includes three semi-detached houses and one 180 m2 single-family house. The level of finishing and material choices in the destination is astonishing, therefore the naturally impressive Giantlog was chosen as the frame of the houses.
The construction company Argentum is a full-service house that builds genuinely high-quality projects. They are responsible for the design of their sites as far as possible themselves, from façade design to the choice of materials for interior decoration. The goal is to offer customers luxury destinations where the customer can experience a holistic wow experience.
The best materials available on the market have been selected for the project, e.g. Timberwise hardwood floors, giant tiles designed by Roberto Cavalli in bathrooms and kitchen, Tapwell faucets and Unidrain line drains, indirect lighting from SG Armature throughout the apartments – and, of course, the impressive 360 mm high Giantlog framing the entire magnificent ensemble. The site is in the A-energy class, which in itself indicates the high quality of construction. Apartment-specific solar power plants have been installed on the roofs of the houses, and each apartment has its own electric car charging point.
Argentum's site manager Panu Lemmetyinen is responsible for the overall design of the site, and he and his family live in the single-family house built on the site. After getting to know the Giantlog, it was clear to him that no other log solution could compete in its spectacularity with the Giantlog.
"Competitors simply don't have a similar product. The Giantlog is incredibly good-looking and thus, we had no choice but to negotiate the price right. Quality was ultimately what counted," Lemmetyinen describes.
With the project, the Giantlog has also proven to be the most cost-efficient way to build, taking into account the amount of work required. Lemmetyinen has extensive experience in a wide variety of different house solutions, ranging from building houses from scratch to prefabricated houses and various log houses.
"As the log elements are so tall, the house frame rises up really fast. When thinking about the construction of a one-story house, with ten logs you can already reach 3.6 meters. Then, of course, there will be fewer elements on top of each other, and it is also pleasant to work with and install," Lemmetyinen says.
As a non-settling structure, the Giantlog makes it possible to combine stone, wood and large glass surfaces, which achieves the modern look of log houses. One of the semi-detached houses in the project has been built as a hillside house, as well as the single-family house, where the ground floor is made of stone and the upstairs frame is made of Giantlog – an impressive and modern entity combining stone and the Giantlog structure.
Lemmetyinen finds several benefits in their cooperation with Pellopuu.
"In summary, the key benefits are the promptness, unique appearance, punctual production, good log frame design, high-quality spruce as the material, customer service orientation and communication with Pellopuu works extremely well."
With these experiences, Argentum's team is interested in cooperation with Pellopuu and the utilisation of Giantlog also in their future projects. Check out the pictures of this wonderful ensemble and ask our sales for an offer for your own construction project!
